About Us

Our Board of Directors is composed of seasoned psychologists and other professionals who bring a wealth of direct field experience with diverse international peoples, a nuanced understanding of international contexts, and strategic insight gained from leadership within both governmental and non-governmental non-profit sectors. Reinforcing this foundation, our dedicated volunteer team, composed of professionally trained linguists and therapists with significant international practice, provides crucial subject matter expertise alongside their commitment to community outreach, strategic marketing, and the practical creation of culturally-attuned curricula.

Our Mission

Supporting Displaced Individuals

Kin-nection is a 501c3 public charity non-profit organization whose mission is to serve displaced people navigating the emotional toll of forced migration. We connect people with interculturally and linguistically competent mental health care remotely. Whether fleeing conflict or climate crisis, we recognize that healing isn’t always clinical—sometimes, it’s simply about restoring a sense of KINship and human conNECTION.

Our Vision

We envision a world where migrants and refugees have trusted, meaningful access to mental health support in their own language—delivered with cultural sensitivity, compassion, and care. Kin-nection exists to bridge displaced individuals with healing professionals, supported by empathic, interculturally competent interpreters. At the heart of our work is the belief that KINship and conNECTION are not just possible, but essential, for newcomers building their lives in new communities

Our values include intercultural respect, human options, competence, trust, and empathy. We believe in the power of human connection and the importance of treating each individual with dignity and respect.
At Kin-nection, we uphold integrity, cultural understanding, and a commitment to providing accessible mental health services to those in need.

Our History

Founded in 2024, Kin-nection was born from a series of deep conversations among mental health and language professionals reflecting on the growing impacts of climate change, artificial intelligence, civil unrest, and global displacement. In the face of these challenges, the team shared a common vision: to create a space that honors the dignity, culture, language, and healing journeys of displaced people, while supporting those who serve them.
